The Georgia 4-H Congress competition, held July 19-22 in Atlanta, decided the best in the state in 4-H, and Columbia County 4-H'ers joined that circle of winners this year.
Jillian Rumbaugh, daughter of Judy and Jamie Rumbaugh, won first in the state in the Food Fast and Healthy project. Being a winner means Jillian is now a Master 4-H'er. She receives a scholarship trip to attend the national 4-H Congress this fall and a $300 college scholarship donated by Dr. Anupam Goel and the Georgia 4-H Foundation, which sponsors the project in Georgia. In addition, Angela Toelle, daughter of Edward and Teresa Toelle, was recognized as a district winner and won third place in state competition in the Performing Arts General Project. Autumn Preetorius, daughter of Janet Kelsch and Greg Preetorius, was also a district winner and won third place in the Culinary Arts Dairy Foods Project.
