Golf meeting
The Ladies Golf Association at Jones Creek will hold its annual Tee Off meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at Jones Creek Clubhouse. It is open to golfers of all skill levels. Membership in Jones Creek Golf Club is not required. The group offers weekly ladies' days, tournaments, clinics, couples play and more. For information, call (228-1666).
Softball tryouts

Special needs T-ball
The Columbia County special needs T-ball league begins its fall season Sunday for children age 4 to 16. For information, call 210-9295. Volunteer coaches for the league also are needed.

Ray Guy honored
Thomson native Ray Guy will be officially enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame during the hall's Enshrinement Festival Friday and Saturday in South Bend, Ind. A former Thomson High School star, Guy played for Southern Mississippi and the Oakland Raiders, and is the first punter elected to the College Football Hall of Fame. UGA first-game tickets available
Columbia County 4-H has reserved tickets available for the University of Georgia's Sept. 3 opening game vs. Boise State.
