Young archer wins contest

Samantha Pruitte, 14, of Harlem, won the 60th annual National Field Archery Association's Outdoor National Championship held July 25-29 in Yankton, S.D.

 

Samantha Pruitte, of Harlem, won the Youth Female Freestyle class at the National Field Archery Association's Outdoor National Championship in Yankton, S.D. She also set a national record. Samantha, a ninth-grade student at Harlem High School, competes with the Columbia County 4-H Archery Team.

Samantha won the Youth Female Freestyle class by 56 points and set a national record.

Earlier this year, Samantha won the National Archery Association's Indoor Nationals in Conyers, Ga.,and the International Field Archery Association's World Indoor Championship in Louisville, Ky.

Her plans for next year include competing at the NFAA Indoor Nationals in Kentucky and the NAA Junior Olympic Archery Development Outdoor Championship in Cincinnati, and competing in San Diego to earn a position on the Junior World Outdoor Team to represent the United States in Mexico City in July 2006.

Samantha is a ninth-grade student at Harlem High School.

She competes with the Columbia County 4-H Archery Team.
