Special ed picnic

AWANA planned

Ladies event

Phone-book recycling

Keep Columbia County Beautiful has placed two recycling bins for telephone books at the Government Complex and the Water Works building on Evans to Locks Road. For information, call 868-3484.

Free produce

Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church, located at 703 Furys Ferry Road in Evans, will be giving away free produce to needy families starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. For information, call Earl Richardson at 796-4975.

Backpack blessings

- The Church of the Holy Comforter will hold its annual Blessing of the Backpacks 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the worship service at the Savannah Rapids Pavilion, at 3300 Evans-to-Locks Road. Students and school personnel are asked to bring backpacks, briefcases or book bags to receive a special blessing for the start of the school year. Call 210-1133.
