County should end smoking ban, let businesses make own decisions

I am writing to say I am in total agreement with The News-Times' two editorials concerning the needed repeal of the local smoking ordinance. By going to the state law, the individual business owner can make his own decision allowing smoking, a decision he or she will have to live with and not dictated by a handful of bureaucrats.

I have always felt the current county ban was unfair to start with in that exceptions were granted to the American Legion and to West Lake Country Club. A ban is a ban.

I know this subject is volatile, and I do commend The News-Times on having the guts to stand up and express an honest and accurate opinion for all to see.

Keep up the good work and stay on those commissioners. It remains to be seen if they are brave enough to stand for the right thing.
