From 1 to 2 p.m., a memorial service will be held at The Islamic Society of Augusta, at 3416 Middleton Drive in Martinez, for Tariq Fischer, 19, Imran Khan, 20, both of Martinez, and Ebadullah Hasan, 20, of York, Pa.

Tariq's sister, Shireen Fischer, 22, and Imran's brother, Sohail Khan, 24, both of Martinez, organized the event to give friends of the community an opportunity to share fond memories of the close-knit trio.

"We wanted to make sure that everyone had the chance to share the stories about their lives. So, everyone can get a better picture of the awesome people they were," Ms. Fischer said.

On July 13, the three men were killed in a crash on Interstate 20, three miles east of the Craw-fordville, Ga., exit in Taliaferro County after the vehicle, driven by Fischer, hydroplaned in rainy weather while heading west. The vehicle crossed the median and slammed into the side of a tractor-trailer.

Shariq Hashmi, Khan's uncle, said the three were on their way to the Atlanta airport to drop off Hasan, who was flying to Pennsylvania to see his father, who had just returned from Saudi Arabia.

Although coping with the loss has been challenging, Sohail Khan said he continues to focus on the good memories the three friends shared.

"These guys had the absolute best times," he said.

"This is not a time to be sad that they're gone, but to celebrate their lives and celebrate what they did for the community."
