Petco Animal Supplies Inc. is slated to open its first area store in spring 2006. The store will provide premium pet food, supplies and services.
"We are thrilled about our new Evans store," Dave Charron, Petco vice president of operations for the East Coast, said in a recent news release. "We can't wait to meet the pets and people of the neighborhood."
Petco joins several other large retailers, including Target, Kohl's, Marshalls, Ross, Babies 'R' Us, OfficeMax and La-Z-Boy in Columbia County's newest shopping center. Target and Kohl's are slated to open in the fall, with the other stores following through the spring of 2006.
"It's fantastic to see the Mullins Crossing project going so well," said Zack Daffin, the executive director of the Development Authority of Columbia County. " ... I think there is a market here where businesses now recognize they can come here and be profitable."
The upcoming Petco store will feature a racetrack aisle, a grooming department that will resemble a salon and day spa, and a "Think Adoption First" resource center to encourage pet adoption.
