Y ribbon-cutting

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for renovations of the Wilson Family Y on Wheeler Road, including the new 7,200-saqure-foot fitness center, lobby, indoor walking and running track and basketball gym, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday.

Free produce

Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church, 703 Furys Ferry Road in Evans, will give away produce to needy families at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 13. For information, call Earl Richardson at 796-4975.

Charity game

The 12th annual celebration of the Jawbones vs. Sawbones (lawyers vs. doctors) basketball game 7 p.m. Friday Aug. 5 at the Greenbrier High School Gymnasium.

Tickets are $5 at the door and children under 10 are free.

The proceeds from the event will benefit the Rape Crisis and Sexual Assault Services. For information, call 231-4640 or 774-2740.

Red Cross training

The Augusta Red Cross will offer lifeguard classes from 4 to 8:40 p.m., beginning Aug. 8-13 at the Plantation Pointe Pool in Plantation Pointe Place subdivision in Lincolnton, Ga. The cost is $115.

The Red Cross also will hold training classes at 6 p.m. Aug. 1-2 for volunteers who are needed to teach a baby-sitting course. For information, call 724-8481.

Ladies event

Heart to Heart at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, at 5555 Hereford Farm Road, in Evans, will hold its fourth annual women's event at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 in the church fellowship hall.
