Pastor: the Rev. Dan White

Congregation size: 127

Membership: Most who attend are from Columbia, McDuffie, Warren and Morgan counties.

Founded: 1825

Known for: "(Being a) friendly, welcoming, small-church atmosphere with inspiring worship services," White said.

Music: "The church offers superior music in the worship services, featuring old-time hymns, classical hymns and praise and worship music, depending on the season of the church year," he said, adding that the church offers an organ, piano and guitar. "For example, we have very formal services during Advent and very casual services in the summer. We have an outstanding and talented director of music."

What would you say to someone who's thinking about giving your church a try?

"Those with brokenness in their lives will find acceptance, healing and encouragement. We believe and practice the grace and mercy of Christ," he said. "Our church was built in 1858 and is in a beautiful Gone With the Wind-type setting, complete with the avenue of the oaks! The setting itself offers a place of quiet rest."

What do you believe is the biggest issue facing the faithful today?

"Staying true to our commitment, core values, mission and holy living," he said.
