Elvis fans to get a special gospel treat

Posted: Sunday, July 10, 2005

Elvis Presley fans who enjoyed listening to gospel hymns performed by the King of Rock 'n' Roll will have the chance to experience such music again.

On Tuesday, an Elvis Gospel Night concert will be held at Bible Fellowship Church, which meets at the Belair Conference Center at 4083 S. Belair Road. Admission is free.

"If folks enjoyed Elvis and his gospel album, they will really enjoy this concert," Robert Byrd, the church's pastor, said about the fellowship event.

Performing songs from the album Elvis Loved Him, Jimmy Page, an Elvis tribute artist, will sing some of Elvis' greatest gospel hits.

Byrd said those planing to attend are in for a treat.

"Jimmy is a great singer and a very talented guy," he said. "He does the complete repertoire of Elvis. He dresses the part and really gets into the Elvis songs. It'll be a real fun evening of family entertainment."
