The Rev. Robert F. Leverett, the pastor of Olive Grove Baptist Church in Appling, says the church is known for its missionary work and friendly congregation. The music is a blend of styles.

Membership: Most who attend are from Columbia, Richmond, McDuffie, Burke and DeKalb counties.

Known for: "Its missionary ministry," Leverett said.

Music: The church offers a blend of traditional and contemporary music and uses instruments such as a piano, organ, drums, bass and guitar.

What would you say to someone who's thinking about giving your church a try? "This is a church where everybody is somebody, but Christ is all," he said. "Try us, you'll like us. We are friendly, caring and one big family."

What do you believe is the biggest issue facing the faithful today? "Not enough dedicated Christians doing the missionary work, which is winning souls," he said.
