'The Columbia County-News Times' asked area residents: What do you think of the changes in Georgia's fireworks law?

Posted: Sunday, July 03, 2005

Richard Waters, of Augusta: "I'd say to let them sell them (all fireworks). Carolina has sold them all the time, and people were going over there and buying them. It's just as well to be able to get them anywhere."

Frances Kendrick, of Augusta: "Right now, I think it's crazy. They want to make everything illegal."

Kathy Thompson, of Augusta: "I think they should ban them all. They are dangerous. Kids get them and take them. I just don't agree with them."

Veronica Rountree, of Augusta: "I think what's good for them (in South Carolina) is good for us. It's just as safe for Georgia as it is for South Carolina, under supervision."

Jennifer Tantillo, of Augusta: "I don't think the real massive, really dangerous fireworks should be legal ... But you are supposed to be able to enjoy some things. Sparklers and some of the other fireworks are OK, but as long as you have proper supervision and just enjoy everything, then it should be fine."[
