Augusta Preparatory Day School started with a state championship and ended with four during the 2004-05 athletic season.

Cross country coach Mike Burley led his girls team to the Georgia Independent Schools Association Class AAA state championship Oct. 23. Senior Abby Alexander finished second in the state, while Kathryn Yort, Maryclaire Regan, Megan Yu, Kathryn Peacock and Adrian Ash all finished in the top 20.
The boys cross country team finished runner-up to powerhouse First Presbyterian Day School, which had runners finish first through fifth. Chris Blanco, of Augusta Prep, finished 10th in his first year of cross country competition.
The Lady Cavaliers volleyball team finished fourth in the state, making its third straight final four.
Coach Doug Williamson's boys soccer team had one of its best seasons in school history.
The Cavaliers (15-6-2) set the school record for wins and had a tie against state champion Westminster. Prep beat Central Fellowship in the first round of the playoffs but lost, 2-1, on the road to perennial power Stratford.
Augusta Prep finished sixth in girls swimming and ninth in boys swimming. The boys junior varsity team won the state championship and the girls junior varsity team finished second.

The girls and boys basketball teams flourished under new coaches Mike Guthrie and Moe McCormack. Both teams made the state playoffs but both lost to Southland in the first round.
The spring season proved to be plentiful as all of the teams made the state playoffs.
The girls and boys tennis teams both won state championships in the team competitions. Both doubles teams, Peyton Bell and Michael Crosland and Martha Burton Nally and Kathryn Stone, won state titles. Neil Shine and Cary Gibson came in second in the boys and girls individual finals, respectively.
The girls soccer team beat Southland, 7-1, in the first round but lost to Stratford, who has won 10 state soccer titles.
Lee Knox shot 74 and finished seven shots back in sixth place during the state golf tournament. The Cavaliers finished fourth as a team.
Augusta Prep's track teams both finished in the top 10, with the girls coming in seventh and the boys at eighth.
Caitlin King finished second in the triple jump and Abby Alexander came in second in the 1600-meter run. Chase Prescott finished second - sixth-tenths of a second behind the winner - in the 200 meters. King, a sophomore, holds five schools records and Prescott holds seven.

The future of Cavalier athletics entered a new era in May when the school broke ground on construction for a new athletic complex.
The $3 million Boardman Athletic Complex will be constructed to accommodate a larger pupil population at Prep than the current Boardman Gymnasium was designed to support.
