Memorial celebration
Columbia County's fifth annual Red, White & Blue Veterans Celebration will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Justice Center on Ronald Reagan Drive, Evans, and will include performances by the Lakeside Rifle Team and the U.S. Army Signal Corps Band, and remarks by Maj. Gen. Janet Hicks and U.S. Rep. Charlie Norwood. Old U.S. flags may be brought for disposal by American Legion Post 192. A fireworks show ends the program at 9 p.m. Spectators should bring blankets and lawn chairs. For information, call Stacie Adkins at 868-3458.
Scholarships available
The Columbia County Foundation for Children is accepting applications for scholarships that are offered to students proceeding to post secondary education in college or trade/tech schools. To obtain an application or for information, call 860-0661.
Arts awards
Columbia County Arts Inc. will present its Arts Recognition Awards in June. The public is invited to nominate candidates for the Individual Artist award to a living Columbia County artist. Nomination forms will be available at www.columbiacountyarts. org, or by calling 650-2527.
Ex-Dawg at camp
Former University of Georgia Bulldog and Tampa Bay Buccaneer Eric Zeier will help kick off Fort Gordon's summer camp with a football clinic from 10-11:30 a.m. Monday at the Youth Services Building, 46th Street at Brainard Avenue, and will speak, sign autographs and pose for photos from 1-3 p.m. The sessions are open to the public.
