Youngsters honor mom with talent

Jake Elsey, 8, of Evans, sits with his mother, Kim, as he shows off the artwork that won first place in The Columbia County News-Times' annual Draw Your Mom Coloring Contest. Elsey is a teacher at Greenbrier Elementary School, where Jake is a pupil. Jake wins a pizza party for 10 at Putt-Putt Golf and Games in Martinez, while his mom receives a Mother's Day gift package from Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Evans and from Peachtree Boutique in Martinez. Winning second place and $50 is Tiffany Dunn, 11, of Harlem, for her depiction of her mother, Janice; third place and the $25 prize goes to Kellie Locke, 12, of Evans, for the drawing of her mother, Eileen.
