Monday is the final day for manufactured-home owners to pay their personal property tax in Columbia County without penalty.
The official deadline for paying such tax is today, but officials in the office say they will still take payments without penalty through Monday.
"They won't be counted late (until Tuesday),'' said Shelley Usry, who works in the county's tax commissioner's office.
Usry said that after Monday, those who haven't paid their manufactured home tax will be charged a 10 percent penalty, or $5, whichever is greater. She said if the tax isn't paid 10 days after that, a magistrate court citation is then given. The citation, she said, costs $25, and if a person is called into court, the magistrate court fee is an additional $92.50.
By Monday, Usry said there were some accounts that still needed to be resolved.
"We do have a good many owing,'' she said.
County property taxes were due in November, but she said personal property tax on manufactured homes is charged at a different time for those who either live in manufactured home parks or don't own the land that their manufactured home is located on.
Usry said those looking to pay their manufactured home tax can do so by visiting her office in the Evans Government Complex's Building C on the second floor.
