Impact fees needed; current residents shouldn't get hit for new ones

Speaking of impact fees: I didn't have a pencil to write it down soon after he said it, but if my memory is correct, a few days ago I heard on TV our Columbia County Commission chairman make a statement to the effect that it is unfair to penalize new home owners for the benefit of present residents, just because the new buyers are late coming into the county.

Does that mean that if I come in now, or later, and buy a new home in Columbia County, you, as a current resident are and should be obligated to pay for new roads, schools, water and sewer for me? Holy Toledo!

Please, let's have someone who is not bought off by the contractors and real estate sales people run for election to our County Commission seats, including that of the chairman. I, and I'm sure many others, will enthusiastically vote for you.
