Carroll Blanchard Davis received the Frist Award as volunteer of the year for 2004 at Doctors Hospital. She is now nominated for the nationwide Frist Award.
Notre Dame Dean's List
Katherine Kulovitz, daughter of William and Sarah Kulovitz, of Evans, has been named to the Dean's List at the University of Notre Dame for the fall semester. Kulovitz is a 2004 graduate of Greenbrier High School and the granddaughter of Jack and Betty Mackle, of Brentwood, Calif. She is a member of Notre Dame's First Year of Studies Program.
Samford University Dean's List
The following Martinez residents have been named to the Dean's List at Samford University for the fall semester: Christy Jeanne Adkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Adkins; Rebecca McCall Bohler, daughter of Vickie Kerzic; and Jessica Marie Colbert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Colbert.
Augusta State Dean's List
Ellica Candace Moore has been nominated for membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the honor society for high-achieving first- and second-year students. Moore, a 2004 graduate of Greenbrier High School and resident of Evans, has been named to the faculty honors list for the fall semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Moore is a first-year biomedical engineering major with a 4.0 academic average. She also was selected for membership in Georgia Tech's chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Thomas C. Houston, a 2002 graduate of Lakeside High School, has been named to the Dean's List at Augusta State University for the fall semester. Houston transferred to Augusta State to study journalism and mass communications after majoring in biology and swimming for two years on the school team at Davidson College. He is the son of Kimberly and Tom Houston.
Mercer honor society
Meredith Weare, of Martinez, was recently inducted into the Mercer University chapter of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. Weare is in the School of Engineering and a graduate of Evans High School. She is the daughter of Jim and Linda Weare.
Central Michigan graduates
Two Evans residents recently graduated from Central Michigan University with a master of science in administration specialist degree. They are: Sara E. Harbuck and Alfred Simmons Sr.
UGA graduates
Jack Ellis, of Evans, made the President's Honor Roll at the University of South Carolina for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. Jack is also a freshman representative to the student government at the university. Jack attended Lakeside High School, where he was a varsity wrestler, and Ikuno High School in Osaka, Japan, as an international exchange student and graduated with honors from Westminster. Jack also attended Harvard University's joint enrollment program during the summer between his junior and senior years. He is the son of Bob Ellis of Evans.

Cameron Ballard, of Martinez, gets a close-up look at congressional business Feb. 16 from U.S. Rep. Charlie Norwood at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. Ballard, a sophomore at Lakeside High School, was in the nation's Capitol as part of the National Youth Leadership Program.

Zachariah Smith, an honor pupil at Harlem Middle School, recently competed in the CSRA RESA Regional Science Fair at Lakeside High School. Zachariah was awarded honorable mention for his work "Does UV Radiation Kill Bacteria?'' in the junior division, biological category. Zachariah is the son of Barry and Kira Smith of Harlem.
