In memory of Jenny Clark, a benefit concert will be at 7 p.m. March 25 at the Imperial Theatre in Augusta to raise money for the Jenny Clark Memorial Scholarship Fund. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased at the Imperial box office or Fatz Caf, at 464 N. Belair Road in Evans.

"She impacted people and influenced people with that positiveness," said Tom Clark, Jenny's father. "She continues to do that with the scholarship fund."

Bands such as Redbelly, Shaun Piazza, Pat Blanchard, Eryn Eubanks and the Family Fold, Joe Stevenson and John Kolbeck will headline the performance for an expected sellout crowd, Clark said.

"More and more people are finding out about it," Jenny's father said about the fifth-annual concert. "Ticket sales are at an all-time high."

In November 2000, Clark, 20, died after suffering head injuries from a golf-cart wreck. Jenny was a soccer player who had played for the Lakeside varsity team during her high school career, along with the Augusta Arsenal and Augusta Gunners.

"Jenny was good friends with two of the founding members of Redbelly. After the accident, it was their idea to have a benefit concert in her name," Clark said. "The first one we put on was on Good Friday in 2001 at the Imperial. It was very successful, (with) over 500 people in attendance. We've been doing it ever since."

In 2004, Clark said, 12 high school soccer players in Columbia County were awarded with the scholarship for demonstrating leadership qualities, which is one of the characteristics students must demonstrate to qualify for the funds.

"She was a happy person at all times," Clark said of his daughter.

"The criteria that we use is her leadership skills, her positiveness and her friendliness to all of her teammates and coaches and her spirit."
