Adam McCorkle, son of Warren and Vickie McCorkle, of Dearing, graduated from Georgia Tech with a master's of science in electrical and computer engineering. McCorkle also obtained his bachelor's in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech in 2000. He has worked at the Georgia Tech Research Institute full-time while obtaining his master's degree.

Tanya West, an Augusta Christian School senior and daughter of Scott and Tammy West, won the College Hill Chapter-level DAR Good Citizen Program and Scholarship contest in December. Upon winning, her entry advanced to the Northeast district and she won at this level. Her entry will advance to the state level, where she will compete against the three district winners.

The Citadel Dean's List

Cadet Michael Anthony Rivera, of Evans, has achieved Dean's List status at The Citadel for the fall semester. Rivera is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Enrique Rivera.

Gupton-Jones Dean's List

Ben and Crystal (Thayer) Crowe have achieved the Dean's List for the second time at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta. Ben graduated from Harlem High School as Salutatorian in 2002 and is the son of Robert and Dottie Crowe, of Grovetown. Crystal was home schooled, graduated in 2001 and is the daughter of Cliff and Ruby Thayer, of Harlem.

Wake Forest Dean's List

The following Columbia County residents have been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Wake Forest University: Levi Anderson Pollard, of Appling, a junior majoring in information systems; and Michael Douglas Soucy, of Martinez, a senior majoring in English.

Butler Dean's List

Colin Quinn, of Evans, has been named to the fall Dean's List at Butler University. He is in the school of College of Business Administration/Exploratory.

 

Kevin Lillis, son of Mike and JoAnne Lillis, of Evans, has been accepted at Harding University for the fall 2005 semester. Lillis attends Greenbrier High School, where he is involved in soccer, the National Honor Society and Beta Club.

Harold Mock of Evans was one of two Georgia College and State University students who placed second in a case study competition at the Georgia Collegiate Leadership Conference on Feb. 5. The University of Georgia in Athens was host of the event. The two students, who represented the GC&SU Student Ambassador Team, earned a $200 cash prize for their team. The team prepared for two weeks to participate in the competition, which showcased the students' unique leadership styles.

Janet Lenard, of Evans, received a Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology degree from Argosy University/Sarasota during the fall 2004 semester.
