Columbia County soccer teams have kicked off the 2005 season.
The ninth-ranked Greenbrier girls took off to a 2-0 start after a 2-0 win over Oconee County and a 3-1 win over No. 4 Woodward Academy.
Woodward Academy made the long drive from College Park, Ga., to play four games last weekend. Their girls lost to Greenbrier and tied No. 6 Lakeside 1-1.
The boys team from Woodward came into town ranked No. 1 in the state. The War Eagles could manage only 1-1 ties against both Greenbrier and No. 4 Lakeside.
Both Lakeside and Greenbrier lost during the weekend to Lassiter.
Evans followed a 9-0 stomping of Harlem with a 1-1 tie against Norcross and a 2-0 loss to South Gwinnett.
The Harlem boys and girls swept Hephzibah on Friday, with the No. 6 Lady Bulldogs winning 11-0 and the boys' team winning 6-1.
