Harlem gets check
A check for $1,965 was delivered to the city of Harlem by E.G. Strauss Jr., district manager of the Georgia Power Co. Dearing received $677, and Thomson received $7,503.
These payments represent 3 percent of the gross receipts in 1961 from the sale of electric power to commercial and residential customers of the company under the Municipal Partnership Plan.
More than $2.5 million is being paid to the communities in Georgia for 1961 in gross-receipt taxes.
Cooking school planned
Mrs. Martha Day, home improvement specialist for the Georgia Power Co., will conduct a cooking school in Appling on Thursday, March 1, 1962, under sponsorship of the Home Demonstration Council of Columbia County.
The cooking program will be held at the Appling Community Center at 7:30 p.m.
There will be an admission fee of 50 cents.
