Firefighters from North Columbia Fire and Rescue finish extinguishing a blaze Wednesday morning that destroyed a small barn, owned by Buddy Harrison, on Rolling Brook Lane near Grovetown. A lightning strike started the fire that heated up two gas-filled welding tanks inside the shed, fire Chief Tom McFarland said. The tanks did not explode, but slowly released gas as a safety precaution to keep them from exploding, McFarland said. No one was injured in the fire.
