Brandon, 18, is the son of Bruce and Tammi McGuiness, of Evans. He hopes to attend Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., to study music and the music business.
Brandon is a member of Greenbrier's show choir, chorus, Beta Club, National Honor Society, and AP literature and calculus classes. He is also working on the school's production of Godspell. Brandon spent five years with the Augusta Children's Chorale and now sings with the Augusta Opera and writes and plays music on his guitar.
Brandon chose Easler, a Riverside Middle School chorus teacher who taught him for three years, as his STAR teacher because of her teaching style.
"I found her inspiring," McGuiness said. "I loved the way she taught us. She was easy to relate to, and she made things fun."
"Brandon is just one of those kids that was just wonderful to teach," Easler said. "And to watch him grow as a musician has been such fun."
