Black history event

The Commanding General of the U.S. Army Training Center and Fort Jackson, S.C., Brig. Gen. Andrew J. Turner, will be the guest speaker for Fort Gordon's observance of Black History Month at 1:30 p.m. today. For information, call 791-2014.

Republican women

The South Columbia Elementary School Council will have a special called meeting 7:45 a.m. Thursday in the media center to vote on the early release day proposal presented by the Columbia County Board of Education Strategic Planning Committee.

Boot Scoot Boogie
