Everyone is encouraged to wear their PJs and slippers to Gibbs Library on Friday for a pajama story time event.
Pam Link, the children's librarian at Gibbs, said the library usually closes at 5 p.m., but for Pajama Story Time, the library will re-open from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The story time is designed for families, "especially dads, because they don't normally get to come to story time," Link said.
In the past, all ages have attended the event, including grandparents, babies and older siblings.
"The younger kids are so proud, because they usually have to go with their older siblings to school activities. But on pajama night, the younger ones act like it's their library, and they get to show off what they do," Link said.
The evening will begin with a half-hour of playtime. Link said there will be puzzles and games set aside for the event.
"We always have puzzles and the puppet stage, but on pajama night it's different from what we have normally," Link said.
After playtime, the children will make a Valentine-themed craft. Link said the type of craft is yet to be determined. Craft time will be followed by story time.
"Parents really like it because the children come in their PJs and are all ready for bed when they leave," Link said.
The event is free. Pre-registration is required and may be done by telephone until the day of the event. Gibbs Library is at 326 N. Belair Road in Evans. Call 863-1946 for more information.
