Brian O'Neill, a Greenbrier High School student, was one of four Columbia County students to win go-karts donated by Jim Whitehead Tire and Auto Service. The karts, supplied by Bridgestone-Firestone and American Tire Distributors, were donated to the county's four public high schools, where they were raffled off as school fund-raisers. The raffles brought in almost $7,000. Greenbrier's proceeds went to purchase projectors for the school's audio-visual department. Other winners were Tiffany Turner at Lakeside, where the Band Boosters benefited; Frank Caughman at Evans High, where funds help pay for lights on the baseball and softball fields; and Bubba Dickens at Harlem High, where the raffle benefited athletic and academic programs.
