Columbia County GOP member to run for office
In a letter to the Columbia County representative Glenn S. Phillips, William P. Dozier, vice chairman of the Columbia County Republican Party, stated that considerable pressure had been brought on him to oppose Phillips in the 1966 elections.
In his letter, Dozier mentioned several laws he wished to change if he were elected. His platform included expanding the Board of Commissioners to five members and proposing the election of Board of Education members.
Harlem girls' basketball team enters tournament with impressive record
Harlem High School's Lady Bulldogs basketball team showed promise for the upcoming CSRA Basketball Tournament. Entering the tournament with a record of 13-4, Coach Inez Brown's team had some strong players. Brenda Holliman, forward, averaged 23 points per game, and fellow senior starter Carolyn Rutherford, forward, averaged 20 points a game. Butler High was the only team entering the tournament with a better record than Harlem.
