Blood drive

Columbia County Emergency Services will hold its sixth annual winter blood drive with the Shepeard Community Blood Center from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Evans Government Center auditorium, on Ronald Reagan Drive in Evans. Jazz Mass

There will be a special celebration of Holy Communion with jazz music at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, at the Church of the Holy Comforter, which meets at Savannah Rapids Pavilion, 3300 Evans-to-Locks Road.

The music of Duke Ellington and other jazz artists will be featured, with a jazz pianist, saxophones, percussion section and flute trio under the direction of Robbie Jarrell. A chili cook-off will follow the service. For information, call 210-1133.

Dance ministry

'Souper Bowl'

St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church will participate in the annual Souper Bowl of Caring nationwide fund-raising event. Volunteers will collect cash donations in front of the church at 117 Pleasant Home Road, Augusta, after masses on Feb. 6, Super Bowl Sunday.
