In the course of five months, Isaac Lantigua Tejeda already has learned how to tear down and reassemble a computer from technician John Hayes.

"I'm job-shadowing work- ing here," said Lantigua Tejeda, an 18-year-old Lakeside High School senior who is learning about computer software and hardware for his senior project at Pronet Computer Stores, which is located off Washington Road in Evans.
"This gives me an opportunity to see what's it's like to work in this field,'' he said. "This is helping me to get an inside look at what I need to operate a business like this.''
Since October, Hayes, the store manager at Pronet, said Lantigua Tejeda has learned how to build a computer from the ground up.
"He knows how to take it apart and put it back together," Hayes said."He's also familiar with removing computer viruses, spy ware, and he knows the installation of current operations systems."
Once Lantigua Tejeda completes his research, he said, he plans to develop a useful resource for his senior project presentation to help the community.
"I plan on making a Web site to document what I've learned," he said."I could also build a Web site for the school or an organization to show what (people) could do in this field. This could give anyone who's interested in going into this field an inside view of what they can do."
While Lantigua Tejeda works on his project, he said, he already is thinking how his research will help him in the future.
"I'm thinking about going into graphic design, multimedia or Web page and layout," he said. "This experience will really help me out with that."
He said his main goal, however, is to show people what is involved in a job with computers.
"I want others to see what this job is all about," he said.
