If Whitehead is serious, he'll restore UGA funds

Recently, Barry Paschal wrote a column defending the "joke" of state Sen. Jim Whitehead about how he'd like to bomb the University of Georgia. Paschal said that the stuffed shirts in Athens were humorless folks because they did not find this funny.

Perhaps we might have found it funnier if UGA hadn't suffered such significant budget cuts since Gov. Sonny Purdue took office and if our own Republican state Sen. Brian Kemp had not voted in favor of those cuts.

I will take Sen. Whitehead at his word, that he was indeed only joking. There is, of course, one way to find out: given that actions speak louder than words, I assume that one of the first actions of the new senator will be to vote to increase UGA's level of funding from the state.

So, how about it, Sen.Whitehead?
