Dog training
The Augusta Humane Society Inc. will hold dog obedience and puppy socialization registration at 6:30 p.m. today at Julian Smith Casino on Broad Street at Milledge Road. All participants are asked to bring proof of vaccinations, but not their dogs. For information, call 736-0186.
Memorial service
There will be a memorial service for Christine Ann Hopkins at 6 p.m. Thursday at Grovetown City Hall, 103 Old Wrightsboro Road. Hopkins lost her battle with cancer Dec. 20. She was employed with the Grovetown Department of Public Safety and Food Lion No. 1446 in Grovetown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Cancer Society.
Open house
Episcopal Day School will hold an open house at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Church of the Good Shepherd Parish Hall, 2240 Walton Way. All parents of prospective pupils from age 3 to eighth grade are invited to come and learn about educational opportunities at the school. Baseball registration
Martinez-Evans Little League will hold 2005 baseball registration from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and on Jan. 22 and 29 at Putt-Putt Golf and Games, 3763 Martinez Blvd. Participants must be between 5 and 15 years old by Aug. 1. First-time players need to present a birth certificate.
Church anniversary
The Pastor's Support Ministry of Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church, 703 Furys Ferry Road in Evans, will celebrate its 20th anniversary at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. The speaker will be the Rev. Corliss Health of Flipper Temple AME Church in Atlanta. For information, call 860-7091.
Church open house
First Baptist Church of Augusta, 3500 Walton Way, will hold its 2005-06 open house for preschool and kindergarten programs at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Room 101 of the Walton Building.
Participants will learn general information and the registration process, and will visit classrooms for 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds.
