Civic music concert

Alfredo Campoli performed on the violin at Columbia County's third annual Civic Music Concert. Campoli is well known in Europe and is touring in America for the first time. Among his repertoire were Bach's Chaconne from Partiti No. 2. in D Minor and Giuseppe Tartini's Sonata in G Minor.

City election held

On Dec. 14, Harlem elected a new mayor and two members of the city council.

Glenn S. Phillips was elected mayor; Oventon McDaniel and Hulon O. Hatcher filled the seats in the Council.

New pharmacist

Harlem welcomes Dr. and Mrs. Dave Garrison and their son, who have moved to Harlem Heights. Dr. Garrison takes over the drug department at Whiddon's Pharmacy as a qualified and experienced pharmacist. The son had the mumps.

Women's Society meets

The Women's Society of Christian Service met on Monday with Ruth D. Smith in charge of the program on the theme of "A Strong Fortress is our God." The members discussed mission work and former members of the society.
