Dog training
The Augusta Humane Society Inc. will hold a dog obedience and puppy socialization registration at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Jan. 12 at Julian Smith Casino on Broad Street at Milledge Road. All participants are asked to bring proof of vaccinations, but not their dogs. For information, call 736-0186.
New office hours
The operating hours of the Fort Gordon ID card office will change beginning Thursday. The new hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday. For information, call 791-2914.
Tree recycling
Columbia and Richmond County 4-H, Columbia County Clean & Beautiful, Georgia Power and the Georgia Forestry Commission will hold "Bring One for the Chipper" day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Home Depot on Bobby Jones Expressway. Volunteers will accept Christmas trees for recycling and will give away free red maple or dogwood seedlings while supplies last. Free mulch will also be available. For information, call 860-3413.
Makin' Maple syrup
Mistletoe State Park, 3723 Mistletoe Road in Appling, will hold a Makin' Maple class from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Nature Center. Park Superintendent Bill Tinley will demonstrate how to tap maple trees for syrup. On Jan. 15-16, the park will hold a Mountain Dulcimer Jam from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the group shelter. Anniversary church service
Bible Fellowship Church will celebrate its anniversary services Saturday and Sunday at the Belair Conference Center, 4083 S. Belair Road in Martinez. Saturday's service will begin at 7 p.m. with a gospel music concert featuring The Dixie Echoes Quartet and The Byrd Family.
