Elizabeth Hamilton, 9, donated 10 inches of her hair to Locks of Love, a charitable organization that provides hair pieces to financially disadvantaged children. Elizabeth, a pupil at Riverside Elementary School, is the daughter of Beth and Dan Hamilton.

Honor Society inductee
Jason Crouse, of Martinez, was recently inducted into the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Crouse, who also was named to the dean's list for the fall semester, is a 2001 graduate of Evans High School and the son of Tom and Joni Crouse, of Martinez.
Board certification
Joan Adkins, a teacher at Riverside Elementary School, was recently announced as a recipient of a National Board Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
Education recognition
DeeAnne Varnadoe, who works for Riverside Elementary School, was recently awarded a Reading Renaissance Model Classroom Recertification for outstanding performance in reading education.
Chamber recognition
The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce recently acknowledged the membership drive teams and individuals who helped secure nearly 100 new members to the chamber:
Tanya West was named winner of the College Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution's Good Citizens Program and Scholarship contest. Tanya was the nominee from Augusta Christian Schools.
