Landfill closing

The Columbia County landfill will be closed Saturday and reopen at 6 a.m. Monday in recognition of New Year's Day.

Watch night service

Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church, at 703 Furys Ferry Road in Evans, will hold a Watch Night service at 10 p.m. Friday. The church also will hold an annual consecration service at 10:45 a.m. Saturday. For information, call 860-7091.

Sober new year

Evans Community Church, 4584 Cox Road in Evans, in cooperation with Mosaic United Methodist Church, will hold a New Year's Eve celebration from 8:30 p.m. Friday to 12:30 a.m. Saturday. The party will include a disc jockey, line dancing, karaoke, refreshments and prizes. Tickets cost $5 per person or $8 for families with children, and can be purchased at the door. New Year's Eve party

The Glennwood Neighborhood Association will hold a New Year's Eve Party from 8 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday at the Glennwood Recreational Clubhouse. The event will feature team trivia and The Vellotones. Tickets cost $25 for individuals and $40 per couple. For information, call 855-8271.
