Business taxes seem lower, but revenue generated is greater than loss

Re the Nov. 28 letter from Ken Maleck, "Story on biggest county taxpayers shows homeowners treated unfairly":

I do not necessarily agree with Maleck's complaint about taxes. Businesses employ people. In turn, those people pay taxes and purchase homes, cars, furniture, appliances, clothing, food and other items and services. A portion of the taxes paid are returned to the county. The other purchases result in real estate taxes, ad valorum taxes and sales taxes being paid, not to mention tags and other county fees.

All those expenditures allow other businesses to employ people. And the circle continues. The overall revenue generated is far more than the alleged tax losses.
