Chamber breakfast

Dr. Daniel Rahn, the president of the Medical College of Georgia, will be the speaker during the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce "Not Just Coffee" breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Meeting Center at the Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 671 N. Toy drive

Family opera

Motorcycle raffle

Tickets are available for chances to win a 2005 Harley-Davidson Sportster in a raffle sponsored by the American Red Cross. Donations for soldiers

Grovetown City Councilwoman Marjorie Adams is seeking donations of items for soldiers serving in the Mideast. Especially needed are blankets, brown T-shirts, cotton underwear and boot-length socks, toiletries, magazines and other items. Holiday closings

The Columbia County landfill will close at 1 p.m. Dec. 24 and reopen on Dec. 27 in recognition of Christmas. The department will also be closed Jan. 1 and reopen 6 a.m. Jan. 3 in recognition of New Years Day.
