ID closing

The ID Card section of the Department of Human Resources at Fort Gordon will be closed Friday to perform soldier readiness processing. It will reopen for ID card processing Monday at 7:30 a.m. For information, call 791-1958.

Book sale

The Greenbrier High School Media Center, 5114 Riverwood Parkway in Evans, will hold a Scholastic community book sale today and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The book sale will offer popular books and educational products for all ages. 'Nutcracker' show

Brookwood Elementary School will perform its 15th annual production of The Nutcracker at 9 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. today. For information, call 855-7596.

Fort tree lighting

Fort Gordon will hold its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday in Freedom Park on Rice Road. The ceremony includes a concert of holiday music by the U.S. Army Signal Corps Band, a visit by Santa Claus and refreshments after the ceremony. Admission is free. For information, call 791-9536.

Gardening at lunch

The Columbia County Extension Service will hold a lunch seminar from 12:10-12:45 p.m. today in the auditorium at the Government Complex in Evans. The topic will be "Fruit Trees." Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch. Call 868-3413.
