Peggie Elaine Young, a teacher at North Harlem Elementary, is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers. Young has taught third, fourth and fifth grades at the school and was Teacher of the Year for the 2001-02 school year.

Kurt Thoresen, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Bob Thoresen, of Evans, has been awarded the professional insurance designation chartered property casualty underwriter by the American Institute for CPCU. Thoresen is employed as a marketing account manager for Harden & Associates Inc., in Jacksonville, Fla. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1999.
