Elvis will live on in Columbia County on Saturday.
Damon Hendrix, an Elvis tribute artist, will perform at the Columbia County Fairgrounds at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Damon Hendrix, an Atlantan who began performing as an Elvis tribute artist in 2000, will be in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Columbia County Fairgrounds.
"I am a big Elvis fan. I always have been," said JoAnn Mullis, of Harlem, who helped organize the concert.
"I have followed Elvis impersonators all my life. I'm in my 50s now and have been following them all these years. But when I first heard Damon sing 2 years ago, I said, 'He's got it. He's fantastic.'"
Hendrix and the C.C. Riders Band will put on a Las Vegas-style show featuring many of Elvis Presley's biggest hits, including some from the younger and older hits and country and gospel songs.
After beginning his singing career at age five, Hendrix played with several bands from country to Christian rock, but he acknowledges in a biography on his official Web site that being an Elvis impersonator is more rewarding. Hendrix could not be reached by phone.
He recently returned from California, where he auditioned for a four-part Elvis series, Mullis said.
Tickets for Hendrix's concert cost $10 and can be purchased from Holley's Florist in Harlem; Boots, Bridles & Britches in Grovetown and Fat Man's West in Evans.
