Donations for soldiers

Grovetown City Councilwoman Marjorie Adams is seeking donations of items for soldiers serving in the Mideast. Especially needed are blankets, brown T-shirts, cotton underwear and boot-length socks, toiletries, magazines and other items. Donations may be dropped off during office hours at Grovetown City Hall, 103 Robinson Ave. For information, call 863-4576.

Empty Stocking fund

Friday is the deadline for applications for the Empty Stocking Fund. The fund, sponsored by The Augusta Chronicle, offers assistance each year during the holiday season to families in the CSRA who are in need. Applications may be picked up at The News-Times office in the Publix shopping center in Evans, 4272 Washington Road.

Breakfast meeting

The Augusta-Aiken Chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management will hold its monthly professional development breakfast meeting Friday at the Radisson Riverfront Hotel Augusta. To make reservations or get more information, call Connie Martin at 481-7457.

Time Out luncheon

First Baptist Church of Evans' monthly Time Out luncheon will be held from 11:50 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. Thursday in the fellowship hall. The cost is $5. Reservations must be made no later than Wednesday by calling 863-1228.

Business meeting

The Georgia Women's Association will have its monthly business meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at 3114 Augusta Tech Drive, Suite 203, off Deans Bridge Road. Networking will begin at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the organization is to promote the financial growth and welfare of women in business. Call 772-2855.
