Twisted Chicken Cafe closes its doors

Eight months after opening on North Belair Road, the Twisted Chicken Cafe has closed its doors for good.

The restaurant's final day of operation was Saturday.

"We had a bad opening, and it was almost impossible to recover from that,'' said Susan Werner, who co-owned the restaurant with her husband Tom Werner, a developer and builder in the county.

The 4,500-square-foot establishment, at North Belair and Evans to Locks roads, held its opening in early March.

The restaurant featured a menu and atmosphere created from the Werners' travel experiences. The menu offered a wide variety of chicken and other meals.

Mrs. Werner said growth of other restaurants in the area didn't contribute to the closing, reiterating that "being new to the business, it was pretty much impossible from the opening itself.''

Mrs. Werner said there are no plans for another restaurant. "We're not going to sell the building,'' she said, but added they would like to lease it out.
