"I didn't think much about it," Rogers said.

But on Friday night, Rogers, who was escorted by her father, Robert Rogers Jr., was named her school's 2004-05 homecoming queen.

Recently, Rogers also was named Miss Lakeside High School. With a long rsum of accomplishments, she said, she felt honored to win the title.

"I'm very thankful," she said, adding that to be homecoming queen a candidate must be original.

"You have to be you," said Rogers, who is a member of the Jones Creek swim team, varsity soccer team, Lakeside Support Coalition and a student council representative.

First runner-up Nicole Bell, 17, said she was happy to be selected on the court.

"(The experience) was exciting and an honor," said Bell, who was escorted by her father, Joseph Bell, and has participated in the Lakeside Marching Band for four years. "I was very nervous because I'm not the kind of person that can get in front of a crowd. (But overall) it was a good experience."

Second runner-up Aman-da Rowland, 17, agreed.

"It was an honor, and I'm really excited," said Rowland, who was escorted by her father, Steven Rowland, and is a member of the National Honor Society. "This was a fun (night)."
