Vendors sought

Craft and food vendors for Christmas in America, the lighting of Columbia County's official Christmas tree, are now being sought. The event will be 4:30-7 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Justice Center in Evans. For information, call Stacie Adkins at 868-3458.

Christmas parade

The Grovetown Department of Public Safety is accepting applications for the 31st annual Grovetown Christmas Parade, which starts at noon Dec. 4. Applications are available at the Public Safety office, 306 E. Robinson Ave., or by e-mail at grovetowndps@cji.net. For information, call 863-1212.

Fair opens

The ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the Columbia County Merchants Association 2004 Fair will be 4 p.m. Thursday at their fairgrounds on Columbia Road. The fair, featuring rides from the Drew Exposition, will be open through Nov. 13.

Election Day Cafe

Martinez Elementary will hold an Election Day Cafe 7:30-2 p.m. Tuesday for those who vote at the school. Breakfast will be coffee and muffins for $1.50; lunch will be hot dogs, chips and drink for $2. All proceeds will go to the school for technology improvements.

Parade signups

Applications are available for the Columbia County Merchants Association Christmas Parade, which will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5. For information, call Billy Becton at 863-7645.

It's time for Halloween, and time for children - and even pets - to dress up for the occasion. That means lots of photos. Send a picture of your costumed character to The News-Times, and we'll publish a selection in an upcoming issue.
