Halloween sponsors sought

The Columbia County Recreation Department is seeking sponsors for its Halloween celebration at Patriots Park at 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday. Any business interested in passing out candy while advertising their business should call Stacie Adkins at 868-3458.

Spooky cruise

The Augusta Canal will hold a Halloween trick-or-treat inside the Canal Interpretive Center at Enterprise Mill, 1450 Greene St. 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday with a 45 minute tour on the Petersburg boat at 6:30 p.m. Costumes are urged for both children and their chaperones. Advance tickets are $8, $10 on the nights of the cruise (if available). For information, call 823-0440, ext. 4.

Yard sale

The Augusta South Rotary Club will hold its fourth annual Augusta Yard Sale at 7 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Lowe's on Peach Orchard Road at Bobby Jones Expressway. Proceeds will benefit the Augusta Training Shop for the Handicapped and also will allow the club to contribute to an armed services veterans trip to Washington, D.C., to visit war memorials.
