Augusta Christian Schools senior Jon Williams attended a four-week summer program at Lee University recently. He took two classes and earned six college credits for the summer work. Jon plans to attend Lee University, in Cleveland, Tenn., in the fall.

Dean's List

Michelle L. Howlett, of Martinez, has been named to the dean's list for the summer quarter at South University School of Pharmacy.

College entrance

Erin Wilkerson, of Appling, entered Liberty University as a freshman this fall. Wilkerson is a graduate of Augusta Christian Schools. Kendra Woodcock, of Martinez, also entered Liberty University as a freshman this fall and is a graduate of Augusta Christian Schools.

Youth leader

 

Zachary Zapata of Evans was honored Sept. 28 at a reception in Atlanta for participation in GEM, the Georgia Education Mentorship Program, at Georgia College & State University. Zapata, a sophomore majoring in biology at GC&SU, is the son of Mike and Debbie Zapata of Evans. He graduated from Greenbrier High School in Evans, where he was involved in the tennis team, the Student Board for Academic Success, the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and the Columbia County Sheriff's Office Cadet Corps.

Fayelyn Bilodeau, of Martinez, recently was selected to participate in the National Young Leaders State Conference in Atlanta. Bilodeau is a freshman at Augusta Preparatory Day School. She serves on the Red Cross Youth Board, plays volleyball on the school's junior varsity team, sings in the chorus and is an honor roll student. She also was recently awarded the Mary Beth Reagan Award for citizenship and is active at Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church.

Collegiate program

Maria Petrie, an Evans High School student, recently completed a new pre-collegiate program in early American history at the College of William and Mary. The program was sponsored by the National Institute of American History and Democracy.

Classroom funds

Eighteen teachers from Richmond and Columbia counties were presented with $500 for classroom projects at a reception Thursday, Sept. 23 at the Junior League Office. Those in Columbia County include:

 

Hilary Hines, a sophomore at Augusta Christian Schools, attended a one-week summer program at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Hilary enrolled in three classes, including Designing for the Runway, Introduction to Fashion and Introduction to Oil Painting. She presented her work at the end of the week in an event for SCAD faculty and parents.
