Center Stage dancers to hit New York
Pam Wooten and her Center Stage Dance Academy students will experience a dream come true at this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Center Stage dancers will travel to New York to participate in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Martinez dance troupe has been selected to participate in the New York City parade by the event's talent coordinator, who is a friend of Wooten.
"It was totally a God thing,'' Wooten said of her group's being chosen to participate with other dance teams from throughout the country.
To qualify, dance team members had to be high school students, at least 14 years old and advanced students/dancers. A videotape will be sent to all of the teams participating in the parade so they can learn the same routine.
Girls participating in this year's Macy's Dance Team are: Taryn Morris, Kara Carter, Kelsey Robertson, Lauren Tadlock, Megan King, Carly Webber, Kellie Carradino, Amanda Schaffer, Tiffany Hsu, Sarah Hollinger, Claudia Cole, Melody Saldiver and Jeanna Tuten.
The Center Stage members will head for New York on Nov. 20 and return Nov. 26. Macy's will provide chaperones for the girls, and two local parents will travel with the group.
The group is now raising funds for the trip. Donations can be made to an individual team member or a general dance team fund.
