Segers holds a masters of fine arts in ceramics from Georgia State University. She teaches extended day with five ceramics classes and one advance placement art and drawing class.
"As an educator, I am deeply honored to represent Evans High School as the 2004-05 Teacher of the Year," she said. "However, this is not my final destination, but only a part of a journey that will inspire me to find more creative ways to educate our students year after year.
"I would not be one of the Columbia County's Teachers of the Year if it were not for the support and guidance of my principal, (Don) Brigdon; the friendship and support of my fellow teachers; and the enthusiasm and effort of my students."
