Morris graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1973 and has taught in Columbia County for 18 years. Before teaching in Columbia County, she taught in Richmond and Ware counties.

Morris has been married to Jack Morris for 29 years. They have two daughters, Jennifer Getts and Meredith Morris.
